February 18th gratitude

Today, I'm thankful for my BSF group.  Today seemed like a day were everything was conspiring to prevent us from meeting; however, those of us who made it through the rain had a great time of sharing and fellowship.

February 17 gratitude

Today, I'm thankful for God's wisdom that helps identify who is and isn't trustworthy.

February 16th gratitude

Today, I am thankful for the evening ladies bible study at my church.

February 15th gratitude

Thankful for a day of rest.

February 14th gratitude

Dad was supposed to have chemo today but didn't.  His oncologist decided after looking at his lab work that the chemo therapy that he has been getting for the past 6 months isn't really doing the job.  This has been my opinion for several months.  I am thankful that the doctor has decided to go back to one of the original chemos that dad was taking.  However, even with that Dad says that his appetite is improving.  I have been asking people to pray specifically for Dad's improved appetite--I am thankful for God's work in answering that prayer.

February 13th gratitude

Today, I am thankful that the rain has stopped.  Home has had 9.67 inches of rain and work has had 10.07 inches in the first 13 days of February.  Looking forward to some sunshine.

February 12th Gratitude

Today, I am thankful that when my patient who was a little bit special needs asked me what I was going to get for Valentine's day that I was able to say that I was a widow and wasn't really expecting anything without breaking down into tears.  That doesn't mean I haven't shed some tears since then but it wasn't the immediate knife into my heart feeling.  I am thankful for that.

February 11th Gratitude

Today, I am thankful to have crossed paths with a high school friend that I had not seen in several years.  Always good to say hi and get a hug. :)

February 9th gratitude

Thankful for a sunny day and also for a Sunday afternoon nap.  I haven't taken one in awhile but it sure was nice today.

February 8th Gratitude

Today, I'm thankful that dad felt well enough to go and gather with family to celebrate his mother's 102nd anniversary.  Glad that a 2nd cousin dropped by unexpectedly and added even more enjoyment to the party.  Thankful for the legacy of love and faith that has been passed down in my family.

February 7th Gratitude

Today, I'm thankful that it was just snowy flurries.  Thankful to have spent the night at a friend's house to have a short commute this today to my early morning BSF leadership meeting. Thankful for the opportunity to be a familiar face and encourage a patient from my home town.

February 6th gratitude

Today, I am thankful for my grandmother whose 102nd birthday is today.  I am thankful for the legacy of faith that she has passed down to our family.  I am for God's  hand of protection  in the midst of all the rain and storms.

February 5th gratitude

Today, I am thankful for the opportunity to minister to people that I know from home/church who were in my units in the hospital.  It is always meaningful to support patients and to have them share their lives with me but it has even greater personal meaning when I am able to support family or friends.

February 4 gratitude

Today, I am thankful that a former CPE intern at my hospital dropped by to visit with me when she was at the hospital to visit a friend.  She shared that she is now employed full-time as a chaplain at another hospital.  She thanked me for my friendship and encouragement while she was at UAB.  She shared that when she had been here she  had wondered if she was doing the right thing are not.  She was more theologically conservative than the rest of her group who continually challenged her in her beliefs.  She said that she remember me telling her once that "there is room at the table for you and your view point too" and that this encouraged her to continue to follow her calling.  This was a great treat to know that I was an encouragement to  her and that she is now flourishing.

February 3 gratitude

Today, I am thankful that I got to give the last presentation of a five part series on Parliamentary procedure for my Toastmasters group.  I and my club have learned a lot but I am looking forward to speaking about something else.
I am also grateful for visiting with a patient today who brought up that he has been working on gratitude and wants to talk with me more about it.  I'm looking forward to continuing that conversation later this week.
I am grateful that I got to visit with a patient today who was injured and has been in the hospital for at least a couple of months.  He is improved enough to be out of  the ICU.  Today, he smiled, joked and laughed.  It was the first time that I had seen him when he didn't look like he was miserable.  I finally got to see his personality shining through and it was a beautiful thing.

February 2nd gratitude

As one who loves order and patterns, I am a fan of palindromes.  I'm thankful to be able to recognize today as palindrome day. 02/02/2020. Sadly my car hit 202202 on the odometer last month instead of today.
I could try to post this tonight when the clock reads 20:22:02, but that would require too much clock watching.

February 1st gratitude

Today, I am thankful for a beautiful day that I got to spend at home taking care of some overdue tasks.
